LIVING WITH DISABILITY
Over 3.1 million Australians are living with some form of disability.
Although 50% are over the age of 65, many are young adults striving to increase their level of participation in family and community activities and proactively manage their health, while increasing their level of independence.
However, those living with disability face barriers to realising their desire for healthy independence.
The increasing need for health-related information, monitoring and healthcare is a reality as over 50% of people living with disability are diagnosed with and must manage chronic disease. Online access to health monitoring, information and services is critical.
Participate Australia, a care provider based in Croydon NSW, has been helping Tecuris ‘get it right’ for people living with disabilities.
Since March 2017, a group of participants, their carers, families and support workers have been using Tecuris services to connect, engage in communities of interest and extend their life skills learning experience.
"The Tecuris device is so much more interactive and so much better than Jay watching 'telly'. It makes him read, and it keeps him informed and engaged"
"The Tecuris service is an easy way for our participants to connect with their carers, family, friends, and support workers. It is a safe way for them to engage in today's digital society."
